Temporary Bed Unit
Stability. Safety. A place to begin again.
Blackpool & the Fylde Street Angels proudly manage an 11-bed Temporary Bed Unit on behalf of Blackpool Council’s Housing Options team. This facility provides short-term accommodation for individuals experiencing homelessness or crisis, giving them a chance to stabilise and engage with support before moving forward.
Working in Partnership with Housing Options
Access to the Temporary Bed Unit is strictly by referral through the Housing Options team at Blackpool Council. We work hand-in-hand with Housing Options and a range of professional support services to ensure each resident receives coordinated, person-centred care.
This collaborative approach enables us to address not just the immediate need for accommodation, but the wider challenges individuals may be facing — including poor mental health, addiction, trauma, and long-term housing instability.
What the Temporary Bed Unit Offers
-
Safe, Clean, and Monitored Accommodation
Residents are provided with a secure and welcoming space to rest, reflect, and recover. The facility includes 11 individual beds, managed and maintained by our trained Street Angels team. -
Daily Support and Guidance
Our team offers practical support, encouragement, and a consistent presence. Working closely with other services, we help residents access appointments, apply for housing, and begin to rebuild confidence and routine. -
Structure and Respect
Residents are expected to follow basic house rules and engage positively with support. We offer respect and dignity — and in return, we encourage accountability, responsibility, and a willingness to move forward.
A Stepping Stone, Not a Destination
The Temporary Bed Unit is not a long-term housing solution — it’s a vital first step. It provides space to pause and breathe, especially for those who have been rough sleeping or caught in a cycle of instability.
For some residents, the next move may be into our own Angels Rest Supported Accommodation, while others may be supported into alternative supported housing schemes or their own independent tenancy.
Positive Pathways
Thanks to the joined-up approach between Blackpool & the Fylde Street Angels, Blackpool Council’s Housing Options, and other local services, many residents have already used their time in the Temporary Bed Unit to:
-
Access recovery or mental health services
-
Reconnect with family and community
-
Build housing readiness and tenancy skills
-
Successfully transition into long-term accommodation
Referrals and Access
Please note: Referrals must be made through Blackpool Council’s Housing Options team. We do not accept walk-ins or direct placement requests.
If you are working with someone at risk of homelessness, please contact Housing Options directly for assessment and placement options.
Hope Starts Here
The Temporary Bed Unit is more than just a roof — it’s a bridge to stability. It’s where individuals begin to feel safe, seen, and supported again. And for many, it’s the first real step towards lasting change.
